Mediator
Judge Daniel D’Alessandro was born and raised in Jersey City. He is the first person in his family to go beyond the ninth grade. He has devoted his career to helping individuals, families, small businesses, and young lawyers.
From 2010-2019, he served as a Superior Court Judge, Chancery Division Family Part and the Law Division (Civil); the designated Open Public Records Act judge and Intensive Settlement Conference judge; a mentor to newly appointed Superior Court Judges; co-Chair of the Court Security Committee; presided over adult and juvenile commitment hearings; and established the annual ICLE mental health institute.
Judge D’Alessandro is a Supreme Court Judicial Reappointment Commissioner; past member of the Supreme Court’s Family Practice Committee, Committee on Women and the Courts, and technology and social media task forces.
He has returned to the practice of law, mediates and arbitrates; is a volunteer matrimonial early settlement panelist; and has taught criminal justice at high school.

Judge D’Alessandro was designated as a “Super Lawyer” by New Jersey Monthly in four separate categories: General Practice, Real Estate, Family law, and Civil Litigation.
He has lectured extensively on evidence, trial practice, family law, animal law, estates, mediation, arbitration, the practice of law, ethics, employment law, and real estate for the New Jersey Judicial College, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Hudson County Bar Association, Lormann Education Services, The National Business Institute, the North Hudson Lawyer’s Club, The New Jersey Bar Foundation, New Jersey Lawyers for Justice; at Seton Hall, Rutgers and Fordham law schools and New Jersey colleges, high schools and community groups.
He is past-President of the Hudson County Bar Association; current Chair of its Continuing Legal Education Committee; past member of the NJ Supreme Court District VI Ethics Committee and Vice-Chair of the Fee Arbitration Committee.

He is a past-President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County. He coached high school and AAU baseball, and high school football.
After graduating from St. Peter’s Prep, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Peter’s College (now university)and is in its Hall of Fame as a member of the 1969 and 1970 football teams. He received his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law; and his Master of Legal Letters in Criminal Justice from New York University Graduate School of Law. He completed a complex litigation program at the National Judicial College on scholarship.
